Please Note: When you are planning your design, it is best to consult us first to find out the appropriate format, line screen and minimum DPI requirements. This will ensure the highest quality imprint and avoid costly and potentially disastrous delays in producing your custom promotional items. The following information is to be used only as a guideline we recommend that you contact us prior to preparing your artwork.

Standard Artwork Guidelines
The quality of your imprint begins with your artwork. All orders requiring production art must include black and white line artwork. We recommend camera-ready and digitally produced art for the cleanest, sharpest imprint. Your graphic designer or advertising agency can supply this. Personally Yours reserves the right to delay or reject any order based on artwork received.

Camera-Ready Art
Used to be "shot" with a camera onto photographic paper to make a stat or PMT. A laser print with a resolution of 600 dpi or more, is also considered camera ready

It should be black & white line art with no halftones or screens. If your artwork contains a halftone or screen it is highly recommended that you request a digital file from the person or company that originally created your artwork. In many cases we find that the printer who printed your letterhead or business cards can supply you with the correct artwork.

Multi-color imprints need color separations for each color with registration marks and a color composite.

You can also try letterhead, business cards and printed pieces on flat, smooth surfaces. Please note that these usually need to be touched up to work well which can cause delays, and up charges.

Not useable as Camera Ready Art: faxes, copies of faxes, garments and products with curved surfaces.

Digital Art
Called electronic art, this can be sent on a 3.5" disk, zip disk, CD-Rom and by e-mail. For the best results, create your art as vector art in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw and save as an EPS (encapsulated postscript file).

Convert your fonts to curves in CorelDraw and outlines in Adobe Illustrator.
Include all files that have been placed, embedded, nested or imported into your art.
Always send a hard copy of your artwork along with your order by fax or mail.
STAY AWAY FROM scans of faxes, Quark files with Mac-based fonts, Microsoft multi-color files and any file with a resolution of 300 dpi or less.

Freehand®
Macintosh - Freehand® and IBM-PC - Freehand® for Windows

Be sure to "convert to paths" all text characters in your document.

If you are using an imported graphic in your Freehand® document, be sure to include the original graphic file. Place graphics at 100%

Export the file as an eps.

Photoshop®
Macintosh - Photoshop® and IBM-PC - Photoshop® for Windows

Please submit black and white bitmap images at 600 dpi and grayscale images at 300
dpi for standard spot printing. For full-color printing, CMYK images need to be submitted at 300 dpi. We will not raise the resolution here.

All files need to be submitted at the size being used for printing.

If bleeds are needed, allow 1/8" on each applicable side. Please make sure that any text in your layout still maintains the required margin even when the graphic bleeds.

Adobe Illustrator®
Macintosh - Adobe Illustrator® and IBM-PC - Adobe Illustrator® for Windows

Change all text into "outlines" in your document.

If you are using an important graphic in your Illustrator® document, be sure to include the original graphic file. Place graphics at 100%.

Save the file as an Illustrator eps.

Corel Draw® IBM-PC only
Always export your files according to the program specifications and be sure to include your supporting graphics when sending to us. When creating your files, please create only one page per document. Pages after the first one are lost when exported.

Place all graphics at 100%.

Export as an "eps" file.

Always select the "text to curves" option to eliminate font information from your file.

If the graphics used contain patterns or gradients, export your file as a Photoshop® tiff document, saved with at least 600 dpi for line art.

Additional requirements for full-color printing:
Color all text and graphics using Process CMYK color.
Be sure to use the "Accurate Color Correction" feature if you are using version7.0. If RGB or other non-CMYK colors are used in your files, the necessary conversion to CMYK will change the appearance of the colors when we print, sometimes dramatically.

Please Note: If you have version 6.0, you will need to contact Corel Corporation and be sure you have all the current builds and versions installed in order to export files properly. If you have these current reversions, export as "Adobe Illustrator.ai".

Creating your files:
***Create one item sized correctly per document. (Placed graphics and text should be sized at 100%.)

Fonts:
Convert all text "to curves" or "create outlines" in your files.
